LET’S DO A NOT-A-ROO!

Bonnaroo is taking the year off. But we shouldn’t.

So we’re asking a question:

What if we made something of our own?

Music Cures Cancer is exploring the possibility of putting together a one-time Tennessee music event in 2027, created to bring people together, celebrate live music, and raise money for cancer research.

We’re calling the idea Not-A-Roo.

Right now, that’s all it is: an idea.

We don’t have a venue locked down. We don’t have a lineup. We don’t have sponsors. We don’t have a production company. We don’t have a ticket on sale.

What we do have is a reason to try.

And we’re putting out a feeler to see who might want to help us turn this from an idea into something real.

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.

Are you a musician or artist who would love to play?

Are you a manager or booking agent with an artist who might want to participate?

Are you a venue owner sitting on a piece of Tennessee that could accommodate something special?

Are you a festival producer, promoter, stagehand, sound engineer, lighting designer, production company, security company, photographer, videographer, food vendor, merch company, or event professional who knows how to make a big show happen?

Are you a business that wants to sponsor something that puts money toward cancer research while bringing people together through music?

Are you someone who has organized festivals before and thinks, I know exactly who these people need to talk to?

Or maybe you’re just a fan who wants to spend a weekend in Tennessee listening to great music and helping fight cancer.

We want you, too.

This isn’t about trying to recreate Bonnaroo.

It isn’t about competing with Bonnaroo.

And it isn’t about pretending we can wake up tomorrow and build a festival from scratch.

It’s about looking at an unusual moment and asking what Tennessee’s music community could do with it.

Bonnaroo has become an enormous part of Tennessee’s musical identity. Thousands of people have traveled to Middle Tennessee to spend a few days camping, discovering new artists, seeing legendary performers, making friends, eating questionable festival food, getting covered in dust, mud, sunscreen and whatever else happens at a four-day music festival.

In 2027, that won’t be happening at The Farm.

But people are still going to want music.

Artists are still going to want stages.

Fans are still going to want somewhere to go.

And cancer research still needs support.

That’s where Music Cures Cancer comes in.

Music Cures Cancer was created around a simple idea: music has the power to bring people together, and that power can be turned toward something bigger.

For Not-A-Roo, the goal would be to create a legitimate, memorable Tennessee music event while directing proceeds toward cancer research.

We don’t know yet what the final event will look like.

Maybe it’s one giant day of music.

Maybe it’s a weekend.

Maybe it’s five thousand people.

Maybe it’s ten thousand.

Maybe it starts smaller than that and grows into something none of us expected.

That’s part of what we’re trying to figure out.

And we can’t figure it out alone.

This is the first step.

We’re looking for the people who want to sit at the table before there even is a table.

The people who have the crazy idea, the venue, the contacts, the equipment, the experience, the sponsorship connection, the band, the truck, the stage, the microphone, the spreadsheet, the business, the skills, the time, the money, or simply the enthusiasm to say:

“Yeah. Let’s see if we can actually do this.”

If that’s you, we want to hear from you.

Artists.

Sponsors.

Venues.

Promoters.

Production crews.

Volunteers.

Vendors.

Partners.

Musicians.

Fans.

Cancer researchers and advocates.

Tennessee businesses.

Music lovers from Nashville and beyond.

Everybody.

At this stage, there is no commitment required. We’re simply trying to find out whether the people who could make something like this possible are interested.

If enough people raise their hands, we’ll start putting the pieces together.

We’ll start looking at venues.

We’ll start talking to artists.

We’ll start talking to sponsors.

We’ll start building a production team.

We’ll start figuring out what it would take to make this safe, sustainable, financially responsible, and genuinely worth showing up for.

And if the right people come together, maybe we can make something pretty damn special.

Something that gives Tennessee a reason to turn the amps back up in 2027.

Something that gives artists a stage.

Something that gives fans a place to gather.

Something that gives businesses a chance to support their communities.

And something that turns a weekend of music into money for cancer research.

So this is our feeler.

If you think Not-A-Roo should exist, tell us.

If you want to play, tell us.

If you want to sponsor it, tell us.

If you have a venue, tell us.

If you know somebody we need to talk to, tell us.

If you have festival experience, tell us.

If you want to volunteer, tell us.

If you simply want to be there when the gates open, tell us that, too.

We’re not promising that we can make this happen.

We’re asking whether you think we should try.

Because sometimes the biggest things start with one person saying:

“Wouldn’t it be cool if…?”

So let’s find out what happens when Tennessee answers:

“Hell yes.”

NOT-A-ROO 2027

A one-time Tennessee music event benefiting cancer research.

Help us make it happen.
